Surfing Capital of China (Riyue Bay)

When I mentioned Sanya for the summer, a friend recommended I check out Wanning. Riyue Bay boasts surf-able waves and a cool promenade lined with bars and restaurants overlooking the ocean. We spent 3 days here before heading to Sanya and I wish we had more time to enjoy the beaches. You could fly to Sanya and get a cab from Phoenix Int. airport or you could fly to Bo Ao airport and get a cab to Wanning (This was the cheaper option). Book a hotel near Riyue Bay or Shimei Bay. Cabs are easy and cheap. It rained quite a bit but the showers are short and pass very quickly. The people are wonderful and the food is delicious and reasonably priced. You can get surfing lessons or enjoy various extreme water sports while you’re there.
