Weihai Mountain Air: Huan Cui Lou Park and Affordable 6-Head Abalone Meal!

Weihai faces the sea and is not only a coastal defense base but also a seafood export province, so fresh seafood is a must-try!

After visiting Liugong Island, head to Huan Cui Lou Park the next day: This is one of the key parks, centered around the Tang Dynasty architecture of Huan Cui Lou. Nearby, there are remnants of Ming Dynasty city walls, giving the feeling of walking in a mountain-top park. Many of the mountain paths have been modernized, making the walk very comfortable.

Make sure to eat well before hiking: First, take a taxi to the mountain-top restaurant 'Weihai Impressions' to fill your stomach. I ordered a 6-head black gold abalone rice for 35 RMB, which includes six heads of abalone and truffle rice. Additionally, I ordered local snacks like red sugar crispy buns and stir-fried cauliflower with dried chili! The total bill was around 80 RMB.

After the meal, walk down to the mountainside where you will find a secret entrance. Start your hike from there, and slowly make your way up. First, you will see the Ming city wall ruins, and after another 5 minutes, you will reach the entrance of the Huan Cui Lou building.

The entire building is free to enter, with a few art pieces on each floor. However, I was more interested in the view of Weihai city from the top floor. The air is very fresh, similar to the air I experienced on the Swiss Alps.

After descending the stairs, you will see the bronze statue of patriotic hero Deng Shichang, and you will be back in Weihai city. There are many different malls and craft shops nearby. Weihai jade and silverware are worth checking out.
