Hidden Gems of Weihai: What Exactly Is the Charm of Weihai?

Is it the azure sea, the clear sky, the cries of seagulls, or the leisurely slow pace of life?

This summer, I spontaneously traveled to Weihai with my best friend and unexpectedly discovered a delightful hidden photo spot!

Passing through the Bay Four Seasons Castle, we accidentally found a place called Yuanyao Pier Viewing Platform. At first, we thought there would be an entrance fee, but it turned out to be free! Standing on the viewing platform, the entire coastline of Weihai is in full view, and the seamless blend of sea and sky is simply healing!

The design of the viewing platform has a strong European style, with white columns contrasting sharply against the blue sea. Photos taken here are incredibly photogenic, and when I posted them on social media, everyone asked if I was abroad 😂

The best part is that right next to the viewing platform is the Castle Hotel, which also has a café. We took a short break there, sipping coffee while watching the sea, and felt completely relaxed.

For our itinerary, we started at the viewing platform, then went to the nearby Jin Haiwan Pier and Maotou Mountain. The day’s schedule was just right—not rushed or tiring.

By the way, planning ahead is really important! Although Weihai isn’t large, its attractions are quite spread out, so I recommend arranging your itinerary based on where you’re staying.

If you want to visit Weihai, don’t just stick to the popular spots~ Spend more time at these lesser-known but beautiful places—you might be pleasantly surprised!

The sea in Weihai is truly beautiful. It’s not the kind of lively, noisy beauty, but a quiet and profound one. Standing on Yuanyao Pier Viewing Platform, watching the sunset and listening to the waves, it feels as if the whole world has quieted down.

The biggest takeaway from this trip to Weihai is: slow down to discover more beauty.
