Tired of Huashan? This "Little Huashan" secretly kept by Shaanxi locals is just as thrilling, with half the crowds, yet it has quietly become legendary! Have you climbed Huashan? Sweaty palms, trembling legs, stuck on cliffside plank roads with nowhere to go... But did you know that in Weinan, Shaanxi, there is a hidden gem even wilder, more dangerous, and with more explosive scenery than Huashan, yet overlooked by 90% of tourists — Shaohua Mountain!
Don’t think it’s just "Huashan’s little brother"! In terms of unique peaks, here stands the 1664-meter-high Qianlong Temple cliff, where the sea of clouds rolling in feels like a fairyland; in terms of thrill, the glass plank road hangs over a hundred-meter-deep abyss, with an ancient canyon beneath your feet—each step makes your heart race! In terms of scenery, the red leaves season sets the mountains ablaze, summer brings rolling green waves, and winter features snowy ridges and solitary pines — and the best part is, no two-hour queues to get up the mountain!
You say "unpopular = not fun"? Then you don’t understand what an "underrated king" really is! Shaohua Mountain has over 90% forest coverage, with oxygen ion levels off the charts—take a deep breath and your lungs will feel purified. Take the cable car soaring up and overlook the rolling eastern Qinling Mountains, as if riding the wind. Hike the Rainbow Trail, with cliffs on one side and valleys on the other—every snap is a masterpiece!
But if I don’t tell you these tips, you’ll miss out big time:
✅ Arrive before 8 AM! Avoid tour group rush and catch the breathtaking morning light bathing the mountain peaks;
✅ Cable car costs 70 yuan one way, 130 yuan round trip—if your stamina is average, take it up and walk down;
✅ Wear non-slip shoes! The stone steps are slippery after rain, and some sections are steep—safety first;
✅ Few dining options inside the park, bring bottled water and energy bars; the snacks at the summit are pricey but the hot hebo noodles are worth trying;
✅ For self-driving, navigate to "Shaohua Mountain National Forest Park," about 1.5 hours from Xi’an, with many winding mountain roads—new drivers, be cautious!
You think Shaanxi is only about the Terracotta Warriors and city walls? Shaohua Mountain tells you: the mountains and rivers here never lack passion and grandeur! While others are packed like sardines on Huashan, you’re already on Shaohua Mountain’s glass viewing platform, facing the mountain breeze and watching the clouds roll by. At that moment, you’ll understand: true travel isn’t about checking in, but soul-stirring encounters.
Come to Shaohua Mountain, not to show off, but to honor your legs and eyes!
