Wuhu Catholic Church|Gothic Architecture

Wuhu Catholic Church was built in June of the 15th year of Guangxu's reign in the Qing Dynasty (1889).
In May of the 17th year of the reign of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty (1891), the Wuhu Catholic Church was burned down in the "Wuhu Mission Plan". The Qing government paid compensation of more than 123,000 taels of silver and rebuilt it on the original site.
In June of the 21st year of the reign of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty (1895), the new church was completed. In August of the same year, the Catholic Church established the Wuhu Archdiocese District, including Taipingfu, Hezhou, Luzhou, Chuzhou and other places.
In the first year of the Republic of China (1912), the Overview Monk Building was built.
In the 22nd year of the Republic of China (1933), the Bishop's Building and Notre Dame Cathedral were built.
The architectural style of this church combines European medieval Gothic elements and has unique cultural and historical value.

The architectural structure of the church consists of three parts: bell tower, hall and altar. The bell tower is 27.77 meters high. The hall is made of concrete and granite stone structure. The altar is divided into three parts, which are dedicated to the adoptive father of Jesus, St. Joseph, the Virgin Mary and St. Mary. Son Jesus.
