Mount Wutai is a famous tourist attraction in Shanxi Province, China. Every day, thousands of tourists come here for sightseeing and vacation. This time I will introduce a travel guide to Mount Wutai.
Mount Wutai is not only the dojo of Manjushri Bodhisattva, but also a paradise that combines thousands of years of Zen and stunning scenery. Coming here is half for piety and half for the scenery, where both your feet and your soul can find a home.
Must-Experience Highlights of Mount Wutai
1⃣ Pilgrimage to the five major Zen temples
Wuye Temple (Wanfo Pavilion): The temple is the most popular, wishes are most effective, and it opens at 6 a.m., so go early and avoid queuing!
Xiantong Temple: The second oldest temple in China, with a bronze hall shining brightly with golden light and Buddhist chants lingering in the air.
Bodhisattva Peak: 108 steps to step on your worries and climb to the top to overlook the whole view of Taihuai Town.
Tip: Turn the prayer wheel three times, recite the Heart Sutra silently, and feel the blessings flowing through your fingertips.
2⃣ Hike to the top of the mountain and take in the view of the mountains and rivers
#大朝台: Cross five peaks in a row (takes 2-3 days), accompanied by sea of clouds and meadows, torture and healing.
Xiaochaotai·Dailuoding: 1,080 steps of "Dazhilu" stairs, you can see the Five Directions Manjusri when you reach the top
📸 Watch the sunrise from Wanghai Peak in Dongtai and touch the sea of clouds from Yedou Peak in Beitai. Any photo you take will be a blockbuster!
3⃣ Zen life experience
Vegetarian food nourishes the mind: eat vegetarian food at Guanghua Temple to celebrate the merits, cornmeal steamed bread + seasonal wild vegetables, return to nature.
Night Tour of Buddhist Land: The night view of Guanghua Temple is lit up with bright lights, and the pagoda shines like stars falling on earth.
Copying sutras to calm the mind: copying the Heart Sutra in Tayuan Temple, every stroke is a practice.
