Hey friends, when you come to Wuxi, don't just visit Nianhua Bay! Xuntang Ancient Town is also super worth exploring. Located in Shangxian River Wetland Park, Binhu District, Wuxi City, it offers beautiful scenery with fewer crowds and free admission🆓✌️. It's absolutely stunning during the flower season✌🏻.
📚History of the Ancient Town
Xuntang Ancient Town was built in the second year of the Republic of China (1913) and got its name because it's situated on the banks of the ancient Xuntang River. Many buildings from the late Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China are preserved here, with blue bricks and gray tiles telling stories of the past.
📍Must-See Spots
✅Xuntang Bridge: The landmark of the ancient town. Take photos of the scenery on both sides of the river from the bridge for amazing shots.
✅Republic of China Architecture: The ancient town has many houses in the style of the Republic of China, creating a strong retro atmosphere.
🚶Suggested Route
Enter from the entrance of the ancient town, visit Xuntang Bridge first, then stroll along the riverbank, admiring the architecture of the Republic of China. There are many small shops to explore along the way. Finally, find a riverside cafe, sit down, enjoy the scenery, and relax.
Don't miss the local steamed buns (xiaolongbao), they are sweet but not greasy😋.
