① Room Type
Still rocking the nightclub neon style, with interiors in an oak-like color. This time, I stayed in a Lake View King Room.
The room layout isn't super conventional, but the modern style is a plus—no outdated hotel vibes. However, the bathtub is connected to the living area, separated only by a symbolic screen. Taking a bath in the living room feels a bit odd. (Pic 4)
One highlight: The coffee table in the room comes with a few chairs, so you can gather around for takeout meals if you're with a group. (Pic 3)
② Amenities
A few small details I loved: The shampoo has a fantastic scent—big plus; the hair dryer is a Lefant, which is nice; the welcome snack was Shizi Mo (a Xi'an specialty stone-baked flatbread), a bit salty but I finished it all.
One downside: The TV is an older Samsung model, so the quality is just okay, but it supports screen mirroring.
③ Location
The lake-view rooms face Qujiang Pool. My parents enjoyed morning walks by the lake—very pleasant. The balcony has two small chairs, perfect for sipping a drink while working on your laptop.
A major advantage of this W Hotel in Xi'an is its proximity to many attractions. Located in the Yanta District, it's about 3–4 km from the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda, Tang Paradise, and Shaanxi History Museum. Plus, the Terracotta Warriors, Huaqing Pool, and the Song of Everlasting Sorrow are all in Lintong to the east, making day trips convenient.
④ Surroundings
The downside of the location is the limited dining and shopping options nearby. It's hard to stroll around and find a cozy local eatery. Even KFC and McDonald's aren't within delivery range, which says something about how remote the area feels.
Also, the airport is to the west, while the W Hotel is in the southeast—about an hour's drive, so airport transfers are a bit of a trek.
That said, Didi Premium in Xi'an is a great experience: plenty of cars, friendly and chatty drivers who aren't overly intrusive, making rides comfortable. This kinda makes up for the hotel's slightly out-of-the-way location.
