Wandering amidst the centuries-old light and shadow of arcades, from the vast observation deck to the warm alleyways of the market, Xiamen's Zhongshan Road has long since become more than just a tourist-filled commercial street; it's a tapestry of life unfolding layer upon layer. Today, let's take a leisurely stroll, connecting the landscapes of mountain, sea, and streets.
🌇 Xinlinghui Plaza 4th Floor Observation Deck
📍 No. 18 Lujiang Road, Siming District
The 4th floor of Xinlinghui Plaza on Lujiang Road boasts a free observation deck directly facing Gulangyu Island. On a clear day, the scenery across the river, including Sunlight Rock and Bagua Tower, is breathtaking. Visit the deck after 4:00 PM for the softest light, making it perfect for photo ops.
📚 Zhongshan Road Pedestrian Street Walk
📍 No. 54 Lujiang Road, Siming District
Follow Lujiang Road to the Lujiang Hotel, where you can enter Zhongshan Road Pedestrian Street. The streets are bustling with people, creating a completely different atmosphere during the day and at night. The Luckin flagship store, various cultural and creative shops, the retro Xinhua Bookstore, and more—all so beautiful it's hard to take your eyes off, and you can even catch a performance.
🍖 Eating at Zhonghua City
📍 No. 195 Siming South Road, Siming District
Zhonghua City offers a wide variety of options for both lunch and dinner. For barbecue, I recommend "Sihe BBQ" on the second floor of the North District. My friends and I just went there a couple of days ago. The beef sizzled on the charcoal grill, and for 150 yuan per person, we were stuffed.
🛍️ Shopping and Marketplace Interchange
Zhongshan Road has a number of shopping malls to explore, including Zhonghua City, Laohu City, and Ding'an Market... Each has its own unique offerings, ranging from affordable to high-end.
