Here’s why Xiangyang should be on every culture lover’s radar 🤩 — especially for epic heritage vibes and ancient architecture! If you’re drawn to places that actually protect their historical treasures, you’ll totally vibe with Xiangyang City Wall (Inner Ring Road).
Must-See Spot:
🏰 Xiangyang City Wall (Inner Ring Road)
Address: 襄阳市襄城区内环路北街路口附近
Open daily, mainly daylight hours (tip: early morning for peaceful strolls, or dusk for awesome sunset shots). The wall wraps around the old city, so start at any major entrance and make your way around. You’ll find tons of info plaques, restored gates, and spots locals hang out. Pro tip: the preservation here is on another level — it’s spotless and feels *alive*, not static or neglected!
What I Loved:
On my second trip, I saw firsthand how this city really honors its roots. The wall isn’t just a relic—it’s part of daily life. Midday, you’ll catch locals walking or exercising here, and every view over the ramparts feels straight out of a poem. Don’t skip the side alleys that branch off the main path for cozy tea shops and street snack stalls.
Getting Around:
Local taxis are cheap and everywhere, but walking is the best way to soak up atmosphere (the city wall circuit is perfect for this!). Most signs are bilingual (Chinese/English).
Food Tips:
Try crispy Xiangyang beef pancakes or pick up street baozi from stalls lining the nearby roads—super cheap and tasty!
Destination Tips:
Cash is still useful here, but QR/mobile pay is king. Weather’s mild most of the year, but bring a light jacket for evening walks.
