New Year's Trip to Four Girls Mountain 2025

Four Girls Mountain, known in Chinese as 'Siguniangshan' (四姑娘山), is located in Xiaojin County, Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province, southwestern China, about 220 kilometers from Chengdu. The Tibetans refer to it as the sacred deity 'Skola,' which means 'Guardian Deity.' The mountain is characterized by its four steep peaks lined up from north to south over a distance of 3.5 kilometers.

These four peaks are covered with snow all year round, making them resemble four girls with white scarves on their heads, hence the name 'Four Girls Mountain.' The mountain is situated between the Changping Valley and Haizi Valley. The four peaks have their own names and heights as follows:

1. Eldest Sister: Daguniang Peak (大姑娘峰) - 5,355 meters above sea level
2. Second Sister: Erguniang Peak (二姑娘峰) - 5,454 meters above sea level
3. Third Sister: Sanguniang Peak (三姑娘峰) - 5,664 meters above sea level
4. Youngest Sister: Yaomei Peak (幺妹峰) - 6,250 meters above sea level

According to Tibetan legend, the highest peak is the youngest sister because, traditionally, the youngest child has the most comfortable life and thus grows the tallest. The older siblings, having to help their parents and take care of the younger ones, do not grow as tall, resulting in the smaller peaks.
