Qiyun Mountain, a hidden fairy mountain near Huangshan in Anhui, is stunningly beautiful

Perhaps it's because I spent my childhood in Anhui, or perhaps it's because of that unintentional reading of "Dreaming of Huizhou" that makes me particularly fond of the mountains, rivers, plants, and local customs of Huizhou. In 2024, I took my parents on a spring outing and came to Huizhou again, a place I've always longed for.
Because my parents are elderly, I chose to drive myself. The Huizhou itinerary mainly included Huizhou Ancient City, Xin'an River Landscape Gallery, Qiyun Mountain, and Xidi. The trip was around April 10th. The rapeseed flower season in Huizhou was over, there were relatively few tourists, and hotel prices were much more affordable.
🌟Highlights:
1. Huizhou Ancient City: Located in She County, Huangshan City, Anhui Province, it was built in the Qin Dynasty. Since the Tang Dynasty, it has been the seat of Huijun, Zhou, and Fuzhi. In 1986, it was listed as a National Historical and Cultural City. Compared to Hongcun, I prefer to stroll around this free ancient city. The more famous check-in spots include the Xu Guo Stone Archway and Doushan Street.
I especially recommend the She County Museum outside the ancient city. This museum is a small garden built on a mountain. There are few tourists. The winding mountain paths and the white-walled, black-tiled Huizhou-style buildings complement each other. It should be noted that it is closed on Mondays.
2. Qiyun Mountain: Qiyun Mountain, formerly known as Baiyue, is named for its distant view of the top of the mountain being level with the clouds; it is located in Qiyunshan Town, Xiuning County, Huangshan City, Anhui Province. There are three scenic spots in Qiyun Mountain: Yuehua Street, Yunyan Lake, and Lou Shang Lou. There are 36 strange peaks, 44 strange rocks, 18 secluded caves, 27 flying springs, 14 pools, 16 pavilions, 537 inscriptions, 3 stone archways, 5 stone bridges, and 33 temples.
If you are with elderly people and children, it is recommended to take the cable car up and down. It takes about 20 minutes to walk from the entrance of the scenic spot to the cable car station. After getting off the cable car, you still need to walk up the mountain. After passing through the Three Heavenly Gates, you can attain enlightenment and ascend to heaven to reach Tianjie. Haha 😃...
3. Xin'an River Landscape Gallery
Compared to the Fuchun River Landscape Gallery, I prefer the combination of Huizhou-style buildings and beautiful scenery along the Xin'an River. The ancient villages along the river make people feel like they have traveled back to simple and moving Huizhou families in minutes.
🌟Food Recommendations:
1. Longfeng Huicai Intangible Cultural Heritage Stinky Mandarin Fish (Impression Store)
2. Wang Yitiao Huizhou Specialty Snacks
📌Tips:
There are many hostels and B&Bs in Huizhou now, and the quality is constantly improving. We booked Yongshe outside the ancient city. The location is good, next to the She County Museum. It has an independent small courtyard for parking. The Huizhou-style breakfast is also very good, but the rooms are a bit small.
