Clearly it’s Guilin, and clearly I have also come to Yangshuo, but I haven’t been to Yangshuo County town for more than ten years. The memories from over a decade ago here are already vague, and it feels like West Street has long since changed its appearance. This small county town surrounded by karst landforms looks peaceful and cozy. Tourists usually gather here to transfer and rest before heading to various scenic spots. The photo was taken during a morning run, circling the county town, which also counts as a tour.
Yangshuo County belongs to Guilin City in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, located south of Guilin’s urban area. It is the essence of Guilin’s “world-renowned landscape of mountains and waters.” The county features typical karst landforms, with the winding Li River forming a unique landscape of “green mountains, clear waters, strange caves, and beautiful stones,” earning it the reputation of “Yangshuo’s landscape surpasses Guilin.”
Yangshuo centers around the Li River, with picturesque peak forests unfolding on both banks. The section from Xingping to Yangdi is especially famous for the “Nine Horses Fresco Hill” and the “Yellow Cloth Reflection.” Bamboo rafting on the Yulong River is an excellent way to experience the pastoral poetry, with rice fields, ancient bridges, and karst peaks complementing each other on both sides.
The Ten-Mile Gallery cycling trail connects attractions such as Moon Hill and the Big Banyan Tree, offering scenic views that blend natural landscapes and cultural elements along the way. West Street combines history and modernity, with dazzling lights at night, featuring the charm of Ming and Qing dynasty architecture alongside exotic styles.
