Hongcun: A Tranquil Ancient Village Like a Landscape Painting with Green Mountains and Clear Waters

Located at the foot of Huangshan, the village of Hongcun, which resembles an ink wash painting, may be familiar to those who have seen the movie Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. This village, with a history of nearly 900 years, boasts unique and rustic Huizhou-style architecture, as well as serene and beautiful natural scenery and cultural charm.

In the past, Hongcun in southern Anhui was a gathering place for literati and scholars, surrounded by green mountains and clear waters. Today, it has transformed into a popular tourist destination, yet it remains a hall of cultural and artistic significance.

Every spot, such as Nanhu Lake, Nanhu Academy, Moon Pond, Water Canals, Chengzhi Hall, Wang's Ancestral Hall, and Lexu Hall, is full of flavor, as if stepping into a time tunnel.

Strolling along the banks of Nanhu Lake, you can often see students sketching and painting this beautiful ink wash scene. The white walls and black tiles, along with the mirror-like lake, leave a deep impression.
