I never expected Shaanbei to be like this!!! (With travel tips)

"Can you accompany me to see Hukou Waterfall?" Teacher Yang has said this to me countless times. Finally, we chose a suitable time and went to see the long-awaited Hukou Waterfall.

Day 1⃣️
Xi'an — Hukou Waterfall
🚗 About 3.5 hours by car

🍽️ Lunch: After arriving, we directly found a restaurant near Hukou Waterfall (Nongjia Yufu). The restaurants at the scenic area entrance are all similar, just a decent meal.

💦 Activities: Hukou Waterfall (Shanxi side)
Online guides say the waterfall on the Shanxi side is more spectacular.
It really did not disappoint us!
Standing on the shore, you can feel the cool mist hitting your face.
Up close, you can experience the majestic momentum of "a pot holding the mighty Yellow River."
It truly gets your blood pumping!
🔔 Tips:
· The mist is very heavy, remember to waterproof your phone and camera!
· If you wear light-colored clothes, be sure to bring an umbrella, or you'll end up covered in mud spots (don’t ask me how I know 😅).

🏡 Accommodation: Hukou Waterfall Gudukou Homestay
We booked a deluxe tatami suite with a large bed.
The room has one big bed and two small beds (can sleep four adults).
The entire homestay’s decor is very unique,
a mix of Moroccan style blended with Shaanbei cave dwellings vibe.
The homestay has a large outdoor swimming pool 🏊
Kids can play in the water, and it’s great for photos too 📷
The homestay is built right by the Yellow River.
After dinner, you can stroll along the riverbank, so relaxing~ 🍃
Overall, a great experience—very family-friendly.

🍽️ Dinner: We had dinner at the homestay’s own restaurant (Dukou Wuwei Caotang).
At first, we didn’t have high expectations,
but their iron pot stewed lamb was surprisingly delicious! Super fresh!

Day 2️⃣
Hukou Waterfall — Nanniwan Scenic Area
🚗 About 1.5 hours by car
The next day, after waking up and having breakfast at the homestay, we leisurely drove to Nanniwan Scenic Area.

🍽️ Food: Li Chong’s Shiitake Mushroom Noodles (Main Store)
Shiitake mushroom noodles are a local specialty and quite tasty (just a bit salty).

🍃 Activities: (All the following attractions are free 🆓)
· Wetland Park ⛲️
Large lawns with blue skies and white clouds ☁️ perfect for photos, and kids had a blast playing.
· Party Emblem Square
A huge party emblem waiting for your check-in.
· Great Production Memorial Hall
“Do it yourself, have enough food and clothing” — a very meaningful memorial hall to review history and inherit the red spirit.
· Martyrs’ Monument
Remember history and honor the martyrs.
· Former Artillery School Site
Seeing all kinds of real cannons and tanks made Xiao Zhi super happy.
· Thousand-Mu Rice Field
When we visited, the rice fields were still green, a vast lush green area, very beautiful!

This trip was truly worthwhile! We experienced the majestic power of Hukou Waterfall and enjoyed the unique scenery of northern Shaanbei’s Jiangnan style—absolutely perfect~
