Paragliding, camping, chasing the sea of clouds, Guangdong's little Wugong Mountain is perfect for photography!
Key Check-in Spots (ranked by experience)
1. Heyun Paragliding Camp: A treasure spot accessible by car directly to the mountain top, featuring vast green lawns. You can experience paragliding for 780 RMB per person (including insurance and photography) or just lie down and watch the sea of clouds at sunset. The fiery red dawn half an hour before sunrise paired with the rolling sea of clouds makes for stunning photos.
2. 65 Peak Hiking Trail: Navigate to Tiantang Mountain Forest Farm to start, it takes about 40 minutes to reach the summit. The trail is gentle and suitable for both adults and children. The summit has open rocky grasslands, surrounded by mist creating a fairy-like atmosphere; it can be windy, so keep warm.
3. Ancient Bridge Waterfall Spot: Navigate to "Qingyuan Huangnikeng," then park and hike for ten minutes to reach. The clear pool water is perfect for cooling off, but the mountain road is narrow with many sharp turns, so it’s recommended to go in the morning to avoid traffic peaks.
4. Tiantang Lake: Divided into upper and lower lakes, this alpine lake is over 600 meters above sea level. Walking along the lakeside offers views of continuous mountain scenery. The flat low banks in autumn and winter are especially photogenic.
📝 Practical Tips List
• Entrance Fee: 10 RMB per person on weekdays, 30 RMB per person on weekends; accommodation or paragliding experience waives the entrance fee.
• Camping Guide: The mountaintop campsite has water, electricity, and toilets. Bringing your own tent costs 50-100 RMB per night; renting a tent or staying in a wooden cabin costs 199-799 RMB. At night, you can barbecue and stargaze. The temperature is 6-7 degrees cooler than the city, making it very comfortable for summer.
• Transportation Tips: Self-driving is recommended; it takes 1.5 hours from Qingyuan city center. Some mountain roads are rough, so small cars are not recommended to drive all the way up. Parking and hiking is safer.
• Seasonal Highlights: In April, wild azaleas bloom on Wangjun Mountain (also known as Tiantang Mountain), covering the summit in red and once featured on CCTV. Spring and autumn are the best seasons for camping and hiking; summer is ideal for water activities and cooling off.
⚠️ Caution Tips
1. Always pay attention to safety when playing in the water outdoors, and take all trash with you to protect the natural environment.
2. There are limited accommodation and dining options in the town below; it’s recommended to bring your own food for barbecue or pre-order takeout from local farms.
3. The sea of clouds and sunrise are highly weather-dependent. Check the recent weather forecast before setting out. Cloudy days are good for hiking, sunny days are better for photography.
