The heart of Jogja City 🌆❤️

Google "things to do in Yogyakarta" and I am sure that Jalan Malioboro would come up. Indeed, when I visited this street in March 2024, I found Jalan Malioboro to be akin to a bustling artery that pulsated within the heart of the city.

Jalan Malioboro is like the main shopping street of the city. Strolling down the nicely paved pedestrian walkway, you come across many clothing, food and souvenir shops (if you have been here, you would know that continous stretch of pedestrian walkway is hard to come by, much less one that is so wide and nicely maintained). Passing by Roti Boy, I couldn't help but get my hands on oen of those coffee buns that smelled so heavenly.

Another interesting sight along this street is the iconic horse carts/ carraiges that ply along the road. The iconic horse carts offered a nostalgic journey through the bustling streets, evoking a sense of old-world charm amidst modernity.

We also chanced upon a night bazaar (called Teras Malioboro 2) where we found a lot of small shops selling handicrafts, local wares, t-shirts and other souvenirs. At the back, there was a food market where families were seated enjoying dinner together. It was probably especially busy when we visited as they had just broke fast.

So indeed, I think every tourist visiting Jogja should come to Jalan Malioboro and visit the heart of the city!

To me, Hong Kong is a city that has so much to offer - culture, outdoors, nightlife, food and history! I want to travel to Hong Kong to visit Kowloon West Cultural Park, go shopping at Tung Chung City Outlets, eat some Bo Lo Buns at a local cafe eatery and...so much more!
