Hotel New Grand Standard Twin Room (Tower Building)

On the second day of my 3-night, 4-day trip to Tokyo, I stayed at Hotel New Grand, a historic hotel near Yokohama Chinatown and Yokohama Marine Tower, boasting nearly 100 years of history.

This hotel has hosted notable figures such as Charlie Chaplin, Babe Ruth, and General MacArthur. It consists of the main building and the newer tower building, and is directly connected to Yamashita Park.

I had plans to meet a friend in Tokyo at 5 PM, and after a lively outing until 10:30 PM, I returned to the hotel for check-in close to midnight.

When booking, I mentioned in the request section that the next day was my birthday. Typically, only one staff member is present for late-night check-ins, but four staff members were there to greet me and continuously wished me a happy birthday, which made me very happy.

Although I stayed in the most basic room, it was spacious at 32 square meters. The bed was high, cozy, and provided a restful sleep. In the morning, I woke up to a view of the Red Brick Warehouse, which had been dark the previous night.

Breakfast options included Western-style and Japanese-style meals. I chose the Western-style breakfast, which offered three choices. I opted for the omelet. The meal was served course by course while I sat at my table.

Since it was my birthday, I was seated at the best window-side table with a view of Gundam across the way. The yogurt with fruit puree was quite delicious, and the omelet was exceptionally soft. Enjoying a scenic view while having a solo birthday breakfast felt very romantic.

All the staff were kind and greeted me warmly. Thank you for the wonderful experience.
