[Kanagawa/Yokohama🇯🇵] Japan's only specialized museum ‎🤍Yokohama Doll Museum

Located right in front of Yamashita Park, a prime location for sightseeing in Yokohama, the Yokohama Doll Museum is Japan's only museum dedicated to dolls. Its greatest appeal lies in its vast collection of over 10,000 dolls (approximately 3,500 are always on display) from 141 countries and regions around the world. These diverse dolls, including Japanese Hina dolls and Ichimatsu dolls, gorgeous European bisque dolls, and ethnic dolls from Asia and Africa, tell the story of each country's customs, culture, and history, making visitors feel like they're traveling the world through dolls.

The museum also features not only antiques but also modern, original dolls, as well as a timeline showcasing popular toys of each era. This unique exhibit allows visitors of all ages, from children to adults, to rediscover their childhood. Another attraction is the display of dolls closely related to Yokohama's history, such as the girl doll that inspired the Japanese nursery rhyme "Akai Kutsu." ❤️

Furthermore, the museum is known for its wide variety of special exhibitions. Past exhibitions include the "Traces of Magical Girls," miniatures, and soft vinyl dolls, and the museum frequently hosts exhibitions featuring popular characters and contemporary art. No matter when you visit, you'll always have the opportunity to discover a new world of dolls. The museum also features a museum shop and cafe, making it a great place to immerse yourself in the world of dolls—seeing, touching, feeling, and playing—even on rainy days.
