Give Yueyang a day, take photos at these 18 hidden gem spots before you leave

Originally, I was just passing through Yueyang on my way to Changsha, only wanting to catch a glimpse of the "Baling Scenic Spot" from my Chinese textbook.
Turns out, there’s more here than just Yueyang Tower and Dongting Lake.
It really is a treasure city.
Walking 20,000 steps in one day was totally worth it!

☀️Afternoon: Dongting Lake Bridge — Yueyang Tower — Baling Square — Dongting South Road — Cishi Pagoda

➊ Yueyang Tower P1
The composition of Yueyang Tower with trees and sky is perfect, and you can shoot it without entering the scenic area. 📍Location: "Yueyang Tower Street Office" bus stop.
➋ Cishi Pagoda P9-P11
Listen to the wind chimes under Cishi Pagoda, full of Zen vibes~ There are many photo spots nearby, and I even stumbled upon a giant orange cat on a rooftop. You can also visit the nearby Yueyang Port Industrial Heritage Park.
➌ Baling Square P15-P16
The huge Houyi shooting the serpent statue in the center of the square is a Yueyang landmark and a must-visit. You can also take great photos through the gatehole of "Zhanyue Gate."
➍ Jiehekou / Yuxiangzi Dongting South Road P12-P14
Sunset over the orange sea, though it’s not the sea, this is a romance unique to Yueyang. After leaving Yueyang, I never saw such a beautiful sunset again—truly stunning‼️ 📍Location: Yuxiangzi Dongting South Road Historic and Cultural Street
➎ Sheng'an Ancient Temple P2-P3
Ticket 💰20 yuan. This thousand-year-old temple stands quietly, with red walls and golden tiles nestled among lush greenery. The stairs leading to Guanyin Cave offer a great overhead shot with a strong atmosphere.
➏ Former Site of Yueyang Church School P4-P7
The ochre red of the Republican-era building and the green of the trees match perfectly, creating a full atmosphere. The scenic area is small but every step offers a new view.
➐ Piaowei P8
Not far from the former church school site, about 1.4 km walk. 📍Location: "Piaowei" bus stop. A stunning sunset viewing spot with a beautiful floating bridge extending into the distance.
➑ Dongting Lake Bridge P17-P18
A newly popular magical photo spot. 📍Location: "Dongting Lake Bridge" bus stop. Get off and walk under the bridge to reach it.
