Yufuin's East and West Peaks

Yufudake consists of two peaks: the East Peak and the West Peak. The West Peak is the highest point and features a first-class triangulation point named "Yubu Mountain." The distinctive shape of Yufudake serves as a landmark of the Yufuin Basin, and from Beppu Bay, you can also see the nearby Tsurumi-dake in the background. Known as the symbolic mountain of Yufuin, its symmetrical and elegant appearance has earned it the nickname "Bungo Fuji." The hiking route to the summit of Yufudake is moderate, taking approximately 2.5 to 3 hours. From the top, you can enjoy panoramic views of the Kuju Mountain Range and the Yufuin Basin, making it a classic trip that combines hiking and sightseeing.
