Nestled in the scenic town of Yufuin, Comico Art Museum is a stunning contemporary art space designed by renowned architect Kengo Kuma. The sleek, minimalist design blends seamlessly into its natural surroundings, creating a tranquil atmosphere that enhances the viewing experience.

Since its 5th anniversary in 2022, the museum has expanded to include a new wing. It now showcases 46 works by 7 prominent Japanese artists, including Yayoi Kusama, Takashi Murakami, Hiroshi Sugimoto, and more. One of the highlights is Your Dog by Yoshitomo Nara, positioned outdoors on the second level with Mt. Yufu as a breathtaking backdrop—an iconic photo spot for visitors.

The grounds also feature a private villa with hot spring baths, also designed by Kengo Kuma, offering guests a chance to stay overnight. It’s the perfect base for an art-filled retreat in one of Japan’s most peaceful regions.
