The ruins of Tongwan City stand majestically on the edge of the desert. Shrouded by the yellow sand, the ruins bear witness to the glory and vicissitudes of the Northern Wei Dynasty. The walls of this former capital city still bear the faint outline of their former glory, their layers of rammed earth still towering. From a high vantage point, the view reveals the boundless wilderness, and the distant sounds of Hujia music can be heard amidst the wind and grass. Strolling through the landscape, each weathered wall seems to hold countless stories: the neighing of war horses, the comings and goings of caravans, the intermingling of Hu and Han cultures. In the setting sun, the ruins cast a golden-red hue, like a long scroll of history slowly unfolding before your eyes, a scene both awe-inspiring and moving.
