An outdoor museum where nature and art beautifully blend
Large works by domestic and international artists, including Yayoi Kusama, are scattered throughout the vast forest, making it feel like you're encountering art while strolling through the forest. 🌳🌳
📍Information
Location: 6340-220 Kiba, Yusui-cho, Aira-gun, Kagoshima Prefecture
Opening Hours: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM (Entry until 4:30 PM)
*Opening hours vary on weekends, holidays, and seasonally, so please check before visiting.
Access: Approximately 20 minutes by car from JR Kurino Station
(Shuttle bus available)
*The shuttle bus is small and runs infrequently, so we recommend visiting by car.
Duration: Approximately 1.5-2 hours, including outdoor strolls.
Note: Snow accumulates in winter, so if you're not used to driving, it's recommended to visit during warmer months. Also, since many of the exhibits are outdoors, the museum is easily affected by weather, so be careful of your footing.
The building itself is a beautiful example of modern architecture, and the opportunity to thoroughly enjoy both indoor and outdoor exhibits is another plus.
While seasonal challenges can be challenging,
the forest scenery changes with each season, so you'll discover something new every time you visit. ☺️
