Looking for an beautiful alternative, less crowded experience with more hiking? Check out our 2-Days Experience (make sure to get a multiple way ticket and not only one way)
Day 1
Tianzi Mountain 🚠🌲
1. Hop on the cable car up to Tianzi Mountain — not only are the views wild, but it saves your legs big time!
2. Explore the area at the top.
3. Take a park shuttle bus towards the “A Fork in the road” stop (ask staff, they’ll know).
4. Walk down along the main road between stops or take a mini bus — this lesser-known route is peaceful and the scenery is just as good. Catch a minibus back up. Way less people and beautiful views towards the end.
5. Go back to Tianzi Mountain with the Park bus and take the steps down (close to the Pagoda) to the scenic train. Beautiful views, no crowds. The view on the bottom at the train is also really breath taking either the 3 pillar mountain.
6. If you still have enough energy walk the path along the scenic train (train is ok but but not really with it as it’s an easy straight walk). You end up at the bus park home
Day 2: Hallelujah Mountain and Golden Whip Stream 🗻🏞️
1. Be at the east gate at 7 and take the bus to the Bailon Elevator 🛗
2. take the elevator (almost no line) - the elevator is cool but if you don’t get a spot at the glass, don’t worry it’s not that great anyway.
3. walk around on top in direction of Hallelujah Mountains
4. go back and to the elevator but take the slope way down - it’s basically stairs.
5. walk along the golden whip stream back to the South Gate.
Zhangjiajie Tips:
- Most crowds show up around 10am. Get in early for peace (and sick mountain mist).
- Snacks and drinks are pricy by park standards. Bring your own if you’re budgeting.
Getting Around: Park shuttles run regularly between main zones; don’t bother with taxis inside the scenic area.
Eat Local: Try Wulingyuan’s street noodles and cumin lamb skewers near the park exit.
