Cloudland Escape✨ Tian Men Mountain

Zhangjiajie’s epic Tianmen Mountain was calling – and even heavy rain couldn’t stop me from answering! 🏞️🌧️ If you love dramatic peaks shrouded in mist and endless views, you’ll want to put this spot at the top of your China must-see list.

Must-See: Tianmen Mountain National Forest Park
Location: Tianmenshan National Forest Park, Tianmenshan Cableway, Dayong Road, Yongding District, Zhangjiajie City
Opening: 07:30-19:00, last entry 16:00 (Oct 27–Dec 31)
Admission: 278 RMB

My main tip? Don’t let foggy or rainy weather stop you. The clouds rolling over mountain peaks make the scenery almost otherworldly, and (bonus!) the crowds thin out when it’s drizzly 🌫️. The hike can be intense with lots of steps and long stone paths, so wear good shoes and prep for a solid workout. But the feeling of standing on a peak as the clouds swirl below – seriously worth every drop of rain and every climb!

#travel The park’s famous glass skywalk wasn’t open that day due to the weather, so double-check onsite for safety closures. Start early for the best light and to beat groups. If you’re into photos, cloudy days = epic “floating” mountaintop shots! There are also small teahouses along the way, perfect for a breather.

Getting Around: The Tianmen Mountain Cableway whisks you up 1,400m – don’t miss it! City buses/taxis from Zhangjiajie city center get you to the cableway entrance fast.

Food: Grab street eats near the cableway entrance before you head up. Pack water and snacks, because vendors thin out on the trails in rough weather.

Local tip: Cash and cards both work. Dress in layers, the rain can turn chilly quick!
