Zhaosu Wetland Park is a national 4A-level scenic area located at 17 km on County Road 758, Zhaosu County, Ili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture, Xinjiang.

Scenery

- Wetland scenery: As the largest and highest typical plateau wetland in Ili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture, Xinjiang, it covers an area of about 1.04 million mu and has various wetland types such as swamps, lakes, and rivers.
- Flora and fauna: There are rare animals such as wild boars, storks, and cranes, including 29 species of national first- and second-class protected animals and 90 species of birds, such as great bustards and grey cranes. There are also 143 species of higher plants, including one national second-class protected plant.
- Special performance: The "Heavenly Horse Bathing in the River" performance is a highlight. From May to October every year, a large number of Ili horses gallop and frolic in the Tekes River.

Activities

- Winter activities: In winter, you can enjoy rime, ice sculptures, and snow sculptures, and experience the 100-meter ice slide.
- Outdoor activities: There are wetland sightseeing areas and hiking trails, and bicycle rental services are available. You can hike or cycle around.

Cultural experience

There are facilities in the park that showcase local ethnic culture, such as the Ethnic Style Park, where you can learn about the folk culture of ethnic groups such as the Kazakhs.

Tickets and opening hours

Tickets are CNY 40, and visitors from the eight counties and three cities of Ili Prefecture can enjoy a 50% discount with valid ID. Opening hours are 9:00 am to 7:00 pm daily.

Transportation

You can fly to Yining Airport and then transfer to the park; or take a train to Urumqi or Yining, and then transfer to Zhaosu County by car; or drive from Urumqi, and drive about 700 km along the G30 Lianhuo Expressway.
