A bit big and a bit empty (Zhengzhou)

Never expected to stumble upon such a treasure museum in Zhengzhou! Hiding here on a rainy day was such a wise choice, I spent the whole day and still couldn’t get enough. The patterns on the bronzes seem to hide stories from a thousand years ago~
📍Zhengzhou Museum
Address: No. 9 Wenhan Street, Zhongyuan District (5-minute walk from Exit F of Olympic Sports Center Station on Metro Line 14)
Opening Hours:
Tuesday/Weekends 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM (last entry at 4:30 PM)
Wednesday-Friday 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM (last entry at 4:00 PM)
Closed on Mondays (except holidays)
🌟Must-see highlights:
1️⃣ The bronze vessel with beast-face patterns in the Bronze Ware Exhibition Hall, so exquisitely decorated you’ll want to reach out and touch it (of course, follow the rules)
2️⃣ The Han Dynasty pottery figurines, each with vivid expressions, especially the adorable dozing old man
3️⃣ The temporary exhibitions on the third floor change frequently; I was super lucky to catch the Silk Road special exhibition this time
📸Photo tips:
• The modern spiral staircase is perfect for portrait shots
• Use the glass reflections of the display cases to create interesting symmetrical compositions
• The light from the floor-to-ceiling windows in the lobby is especially soft on cloudy days
⚠️Notes:
• Remember to book in advance via the official account (same-day slots may be unavailable)
• Audio guides cost 20 yuan each, highly recommended to rent
• There are power outlets in the third-floor rest area for charging your phone
After the exhibition, you can take a walk next door at the Olympic Sports Center. The contrast between the modern architecture complex and the museum is fascinating. The heating inside the museum is very strong lately, so a light sweater is enough~
