One-Day Tour in Zhenjiang: From Myth to Everyday Life

Jinshan Temple
Jinshan Temple is the symbol of Zhenjiang. Built against the hill, its halls and pavilions are layered one upon another, resembling a golden fortress standing by the river when viewed from afar. This is the site of the legend "Flooding of Jinshan," with Fahai Cave and White Dragon Cave hidden within the temple. Be sure to climb the Cishou Pagoda; the top offers a wide view, capturing the Yangtze River and the city in full sight. Next to the temple is Zhongling Spring, known as "the best spring under heaven," also a place rich in history.
Xijin Ferry Ancient Street
Xijin Ferry has a completely different atmosphere from Jinshan Temple. It is where history meets everyday life. At the entrance of the ancient street is the "One Glance at a Thousand Years" glass walkway, showcasing the ancient road strata from the Tang to Qing dynasties, creating a strong visual impact. Walking along the stone-paved road, you will see the former consulate buildings from the British concession period, the old Lifesaving Society, and the Zhaoguan Stone Pagoda, all telling the story of the "First Ferry in Jiangnan." The street is filled with authentic Zhenjiang delicacies; Guogai noodles and crystal pork are both worth trying. At the end of the ancient street is a wide riverbank, perfect for enjoying the sunset in the evening.
Suggested Itinerary
Visit Jinshan Temple in the morning, which takes about two to three hours. Head to Xijin Ferry in the afternoon, ideally arriving around three or four o’clock, allowing a leisurely stroll until dusk to enjoy the riverside sunset. The two attractions are close to each other with convenient transportation connections. This route links mythological legends with a thousand years of history, creating a complete Zhenjiang experience.
