During summer vacation, I visited Zhenyuan Ancient Town—the pinnacle of Guizhou's ancient towns! The Wuyang River flows through the town, flanked by historic houses, creating a living landscape painting🏮 Here’s my 3-day, 2-night leisurely itinerary to experience the essence of the ancient town without rushing~
🌿 Must-Visit Spots
📍 Qinglongdong Ancient Architecture Complex: Cliffside temple buildings known as the "Hanging Temple of Southwest China," entrance fee 60 RMB/person
📍 Zhusheng Bridge: A seven-arch ancient bridge built during the Kangxi era—don’t miss the stunning night view when the lights turn on!
📍 Shiping Mountain: Just 30 minutes to the summit, with breathtaking views from the Miaojiang Great Wall ruins (free after 5 PM)
📍 Sifangjing Alley: A pristine old alley with cobblestone paths and ancient wells—perfect for photos
📍 Wuyang River Boat Tour: Best taken at dusk when lanterns light up along the banks (night cruise ticket 80 RMB)
💡 Tips:
1. The town is small but hilly—wear comfortable shoes.
2. Riverside inns get pricey during peak season (July-August), so book 2 weeks ahead.
3. Bring mosquito repellent for sunset views at Shiping Mountain—bugs are active at dusk.
4. For sour fish soup, try the local-favorite "Ancient Town Red Sour Soup."
🚌 Transportation:
Take a high-speed train to Sansui Station, then a 1.5-hour bus to Zhenyuan. Self-driving is recommended (3 hours from Guiyang). The town is walkable, with taxis starting at 5 RMB.
🍜 Must-Try Foods:
▪ Yuanjia Tofu (Fuxing Alley): Famous for tofu balls.
▪ Old Street Noodle House (Heping Street): 12 RMB lamb offal noodles.
▪ Deng’s Fried Glutinous Cake: Best paired with sweet rice wine.
▪ Yang’s Rice Tofu: Spicy and sour cold rice tofu—super appetizing!
