🛬 Itinerary
Recommended time: Suitable for all seasons (constant temperature of 16°C inside the cave, perfect for summer cooling or winter warmth).
Duration: 2 days and 1 night (ideal for a weekend getaway).
Route:
Day 1: Zhijin Cave Scenic Area (3-4 hours in-depth tour) → Zhijin Grand Canyon → Stay overnight in Zhijin County

⛺ Must-visit Attractions
Zhijin Cave
Known as the 'King of Karst Caves,' this 17-kilometer underground marvel features breathtaking sights like the Overlord Helmet and Silver Rain Tree, resembling an alien world! Under the lighting, the karst formations look like giant artistic sculptures.
Hidden gem: Look for the 'Mother-in-law and Daughter-in-law Bond' stone pillar (it resembles a mother and daughter embracing).
Zhijin Grand Canyon
An extension of the karst landscape outside the cave, featuring natural bridges and underground river waterfalls. You can take an elevator to the canyon floor (combo tickets are more cost-effective).
Zhijin Ancient Town
A 600-year-old Ming and Qing dynasty town with the magnificent Fortune Temple. Street-side batik DIY experiences by the Miao ethnic group are available (starting at 30 RMB).
🍴 Must-try Local Cuisine
Zhijin Buckwheat Jelly
Why try: Tangy, spicy, and smooth with a rich buckwheat aroma! Don't miss the famous 'Xie Family Buckwheat Jelly,' best enjoyed with Zhe'ergen dipping sauce.
Kung Pao Chicken (The birthplace! You must try the authentic version here!!)
Fun fact: This iconic Sichuan dish was actually created by Ding Baozhen, a native of Zhijin. The local version is more savory with less sweetness and spiciness.
Miao-style Sour Soup Fish
Special preparation: The sour soup is fermented with wild tomatoes, and the fish is tender and fresh. 'Miao Brother's' restaurant in the county is highly recommended.
🏨 Accommodation Guide
Convenient option: Zhijin Hotel (5-star, 700+ RMB/night, 10-minute walk to the ancient town).
Budget option: Guesthouses near Zhijin Cave Visitor Center (e.g., 'Huadu Zhijin Cave Inn,' 200+ RMB/night, ideal for early access to the scenic area).
🚌 Transportation Guide
High-speed train: Guiyang North → Zhijin Station (1.5 hours), taxi from the station to the scenic area costs 30 RMB (about 40 minutes).
Self-drive: 2 hours from Guiyang, navigate to 'Zhijin Cave Scenic Area,' parking costs 20 RMB/day.
Within the scenic area: Zhijin Cave is best explored on foot (about 6 kilometers in total), while the Grand Canyon offers shuttle buses and elevators (additional charges apply).
💡 Tips
The cave is damp and slippery; wear non-slip shoes! Bring a light jacket (temperature difference between inside and outside).
For photography, consider using a tripod as low-light conditions may blur phone photos. Flash photography is prohibited (to protect stalactites).
Combo tickets are more economical: Zhijin Cave + Grand Canyon package for 200 RMB (single cave ticket costs 140 RMB).
