Zhijin Ancient Town | The Surging Dragon Boat Festival Ambiance in Every Street and Alley

| The Surging Dragon Boat Festival Ambiance in Every Street and Alley. ◽️"Zongba zongba, 5 yuan per pound." "Calamus and mugwort, 1 yuan per bundle."... Early in the morning, the streets of the ancient town were quickly filled with the festive atmosphere of the Dragon Boat Festival.

◽️Zhijin Ancient Town was originally built in the fifth year of the Kangxi reign (1666 AD). It was initially called Pingyuan Prefecture City and was renamed Zhijin County in the third year of the Republic of China, a name that has persisted to this day. Though the town is small, it boasts over 70 ancient structures, including temples, springs, monasteries, Taoist temples, pagodas, memorial archways, and shops. Inside and outside the ancient town, there are more than 100 springs of varying sizes, earning it the nickname "City of a Hundred Springs."

◽️Having traversed the memories of time, unless you ride a crowded elevator, you won’t miss the vibrant ambiance of the Dragon Boat Festival in the ancient town's streets and alleys.

◽️On the main streets—realgar sold by the spoonful perfumes the air within a one-meter radius. Freshly wrapped zongzi, whether plain glutinous rice or stuffed with meat, still carry that familiar taste. Seasonal herbs, in various forms and shapes, cater to different needs. In the market—roast duck shop staff stand in a row, their knives never resting on the chopping board. The oil in the fried chicken shop’s wok boils incessantly. The ladle for scooping crayfish, slick with oil, darts into bags. In the alleys—calamus and mugwort by old doorways have just begun to curl at the edges, while children clutch tightly to their balloon strings... At every moment, in every scene, this heartwarming ambiance surges toward you and me in the most ordinary ways.

◽️In this era of flowing time, places we can’t return to and memories we can’t erase take on new meaning through innovation. In the bustling city, amid crowded office buildings, even taking the elevator down before going up has its own significance.

◽️Half life, half persistence. May the turbulence you’ve weathered, after steaming, frying, simmering, and stewing, bring forth the next surge—the very ambiance you desire.
