Shibaozhai is located in Shibao Town, Zhong County, Chongqing, on the north bank of the Yangtze River, in the heart of the Three Gorges Reservoir area. The ancient buildings of Shibaozhai were built during the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty. The entire building complex consists of several major parts: the mountain road, the mountain gate, the mountain pavilion, the Kui Xing Pavilion, and the Emperor's Hall.
The pavilion has 12 floors and is 56 meters high. It is made of wood and stone, with mulberry trees as the main material, and is still intact to this day. I have to admire the wisdom of the ancients. The tower structure is ingenious. The original wood is used for the mortise and tenon structure. The entire tower does not have a single nail, which is rare in the world. Among the few high-rise wooden structures in China, the Shibaozhai Fort is the only, tallest and most mortise and tenon wooden structure, known as "one of the eight wonders of the world", and is also a classic of southern folk architecture.
In 1982, Shibaozhai was listed as the first batch of national scenic spots by the State Council. After the Three Gorges Project was impounded to a water level of 175 meters, Shibaozhai was surrounded by water on all sides, and the bottom floor of the pavilion was below the waterline. In 2005, a giant embankment and connecting bridge were built, and Shibaozhai became a large "bonsai" in the Yangtze River, known as the "Little Penglai" of the Yangtze River. It can be described as the essence of the country. Are you sure you don't want to see the crystallization of ancient technology and wisdom?
