Hidden Gem Day Trip: Chill & Snap Your Way Through Zhongxiang

#discoverchina
Looking for a quick escape from Wuhan this weekend? Let me put you on to Zhongxiang — a low-key gem known as the Longevity City of Hubei. It’s scenic, peaceful, and super photogenic. Here’s how I did a one-day trip (and yes, it’s doable, just a bit packed!).

How to Get There
By Car: About 2 hours one-way from Wuhan. Perfect for a full-day road trip — a bit tight but totally doable.
By Train: Departs from Wuchang Station, takes ~3 hours, costs ¥32.5. Heads-up: Only 4 trains daily, so you’ll need to stay overnight if you go this way.

Stop 1: Mingxian Mausoleum (¥60)
This is one of the four major Ming dynasty imperial tombs, alongside the famous ones in Beijing, Nanjing, and Fengyang.
It’s the resting place of Emperor Jiajing’s parents.
Pro tip: Hire a local guide or use your phone for audio narration — otherwise, most of the intricate architecture and cultural elements might fly over your head.

Stop 2: Mochou Village (Free)
After the mausoleum visit, it’ll be the perfect time to chill. Head over to Mochou Village for lunch — tons of cute cafés and local eats. It’s super relaxing and very IG-worthy.
Stroll around post-lunch, snap pics at traditional houses, and maybe even try a quick travel photoshoot while you're at it!
