Authentic Kyoto Matcha 🍵｜「Heian-kyo Tea」🏮

"Heiankyo Tea House" is the name of this restaurant. "Heian-kyo" is the ancient name of Kyoto, Japan, and "tea ceremony" refers to activities related to tea🍵

Our pastry chef is Kensuke Yoshizawa, who graduated from Tokyo Confectionery College and has more than ten years of experience in making famous Japanese pastries. Here we provide Japan's top matcha and technology and various matcha related desserts🍵

The decoration in the store is in a very classical Japanese style, with a wood-themed design. There are many tea sets and Japanese ornaments placed around, giving it a Kyoto feel.

This time I ordered two signature desserts to try 😋

- "Wakatake" Kyoto people's favorite ice cream 🍧
The ice cream is made with rich matcha from Kyoto's "Uji Marukyu Koyamamaru", paired with Mandan red beans and handmade white jade balls made with Japanese white jade powder. It tastes chewy and does not stick to your teeth. The bottom layer is topped with matcha agar, which is very rich but not sweet, and is served in a special bamboo tube container. Classic Kyoto-style desserts, it makes you feel like you are in Kyoto🏮

- "Buffy" is very popular and is a favorite among Kyoto girls🧁
The matcha ice cream is also made with matcha powder from Uji Marukyu Oyamaen.

The ice cream is made with rich matcha from Marukyu Koyamamaru, topped with candied red beans, giving it a dense and sweet texture, but not too sweet. Shiratama balls and fresh strawberries, the middle layer is matcha cream and strawberries, and the bottom layer is matcha agar jelly. Fresh strawberries enhance the overall taste and sweet and sour flavor. It is served in a sundae cup, the shape is quite cute and colorful, with a small paper umbrella on it☔️, no wonder it is the favorite of Kyoto girls💕

The cake is also made of rich matcha powder and has a very delicate taste. In the middle is fresh cream that melts in your mouth. It is really a matcha cake roll with a strong matcha flavor. After eating it, I still feel the matcha fragrance on my lips and teeth😋
