Moonlight Treasure Box on the Sea - Zhuhai Sun and Moon Shell, an architectural poem inlaid on the coastline

#Zhuhai Attractions

When two giant shells fell on Yeli Island, Zhuhai came to own this singing "Moonlight Box on the Sea". The silver-white titanium alloy shell changes with the light of the sky. It looks like a sculpture of condensed wave foam under the clear sky, and like a flame ignited by the sunset in the twilight. After nightfall, it turns into a luminous pearl floating out of the sea, dancing with the stars.

Walking around Lover's Road and looking out into the distance, you can see the double-shell arc lines cutting through the cloud shadows, and the mirror-like reflection of the blue sky and blue sea is like a dreamy kaleidoscope. As you step into the theater, the dome's streamlined lines are like tidal textures, and the acoustic design allows the notes to swirl and resonate in the shell cavity. If it happens to be a performance season, you can choose a seat and let the opera arias and the sound of waves outside the window form a double wave.

What’s even better is to walk slowly along the plank road around the island and let the salty breeze fill your clothes. Fishermen often sit quietly on the rocky mudflats, and egrets suddenly fly through the gaps between shells. Suddenly, I realize that architecture and nature have long been composing a love song here.

Tips: The light and shadows are the most magical 1 hour before sunset. It is recommended to take panoramic photos in the direction of Xiangzhou Port. There are often markets on weekends, and don’t miss the shell-shaped cultural and creative ice cream. Tickets are required to visit the theater, and the surrounding seaside park is free.
