Fuziling Town is located in the southwestern heart of Huoshan, 15 kilometers from the county seat. Provincial Highway 318, Liufo Road, and Yingbai Road pass through the town. It is home to Fuziling Reservoir, China's first dam, Wumijian, the origin of Huoshan Huangya, and Anhui Yingjia Group, one of the top 15 liquor producers in China. With an area of 127 square kilometers and a population of 22,000, Fuziling Town governs six administrative villages, one subdistrict, and 161 villager groups. In 2005, it was approved by the provincial government as a provincial central town.
The Foziling Scenic Area is 15 kilometers from Huoshan County. Its main attractions include the Foziling Dam, Foziling Artificial Lake, the Reclining Buddha, the Sleeping Beauty, a resort, a racecourse, and Dongpi River rafting. Set against the backdrop of the Dabie Mountains' natural landscape and rich in history and culture, Foziling offers a unique blend of sightseeing, leisure, and experiential tourism. It has become the gateway to the Dabie Mountains tourist region, a hub for western Anhui tourism, and a key tourism destination for the Yangtze River Delta.
In the winter of 1951, a reservoir was built at the foot of the mountain. This name was often used to address officials and external parties. Because most new visitors to the reservoir came from Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces, it was difficult to distinguish between "Si" (temple) and "Zi" (zi). Some used "Fosiling" (foshiling), while many used "foziling" (foziling). Later, Wang Huzhen, the project's chief engineer and water conservancy expert, pointed out, "The name Foziling has become a fixed place name on maps, newspapers, and documents. We hope it will be changed to 'foziling'." He also pointed out that "zi" is a compliment for men, and in ancient times, Confucius, Mencius, Zhuangzi, and Han Feizi were all called "zi." From then on, Foshiling was designated "foziling." According to the "Huoshan County Chronicles" of the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty, the current name of Foziling should have been Foshiling. Atop Foshiling, there was a blockhouse known as Foshilingka, used to defend the county seat, as well as five temples. Before liberation, villagers often visited the temples to pray and worship, but they collapsed due to disrepair.
With a subtropical mild monsoon climate, Foziling is a major tourist destination with picturesque scenery and picturesque landscapes, making it suitable for travel in all seasons.
