Jiulongtan Scenic Area is located in the northern core area of Taining County, Fujian Province, a World Natural Heritage Site and UNESCO Global Geopark. Jiulongtan boasts the highest density and complexity of China's Danxia canyon formations, representing the typical development of Taining's Danxia landforms during their youth. Its diverse landscape of lakes, streams, mountains, valleys, rock formations, peaks, and gullies has earned it the nickname "Taining Danxia Landscape in Miniature."
The Jiulongtan Scenic Area encompasses 15 square kilometers, with a water surface area of 100 mu and a reservoir capacity of 360,000 cubic meters. Formed by a 5-kilometer-long deep canyon and deep water gorges and lanes, the area forms a clear pond, over 100 meters wide at its widest point and less than 2 meters at its narrowest.
