The Taining Geological Museum, located 2 kilometers from Taining's city center, covers an area of 120 mu (approximately 16 acres). With a total investment of 18 million yuan, it is a large, comprehensive museum focused on the geological science and landscape of the Danxia landform. It also showcases Taining's local customs, Chinese gardens, and historical figures. Nestled between mountains and water, the museum boasts a beautiful setting, with a winding stream and the distant reflections of Lion Mountain and Elephant Mountain, creating a breathtaking spectacle. As the largest geological museum in Fujian Province, the Taining Geological Museum serves as a base for geological research and education, as well as a popular destination for sightseeing, leisure, and entertainment.
The indoor geological exhibition hall covers an area of 800 square meters and has seven exhibition halls: multimedia demonstration hall, sand table exhibition hall, animal and plant ecological environment exhibition hall, geological park academic research results exhibition hall, planning and future exhibition hall. It mainly introduces geological knowledge to the public through audio-visual, text, specimens, models and other forms, tells the overview of Taining Geopark, and forms the background and typical Danxia landscape.
The subtropical monsoon climate makes it suitable for travel in all four seasons.
Outdoors, there are gardens, a geology celebrity avenue, a square, a landscape flood control dike, a tourist trail, a miniature Danxia landscape on the water, and sculptures. The main sculpture of the museum is a huge fan with the eight characters "Eternal Danxia, Spiritual Taining" engraved on it. The disc on the base of the fan is a Bagua diagram.
