Lion Mountain in Nanjing is located on a mountain ridge north of the Yangtze River in Nanjing's Gulou District. It faces the Yangtze River and overlooks the Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge. Lion Mountain was once a strategic military location, and Zhu Yuanzhang once defeated Chen Youliang here.

As early as the late Qing Dynasty, it was known as the " Majestic View of Lion Ridge " and was named one of the 48 Scenic Spots of Jinling. The completion of Yuejiang Tower on the top of the mountain ended the 600-year history of " there is a record but no tower " .

Lion Mountain has numerous cultural landscapes and historical sites. The Lion Mountain Scenic Area, with Lion Mountain as its center, includes a series of cultural landscapes on the mountain top, slopes, foothills and surrounding areas.
