Jinling Art Museum, located in Jianzi Alley, Laomendong, Qinhuai District, Nanjing ( formerly Nanjing Yarn-dyed Weaving Factory ) , is the first municipal art museum in Nanjing that integrates exhibition, collection and research. It consists of one academy and two museums, namely Nanjing Academy of Painting and Calligraphy, Jinling Art Museum and Old South City Memory Museum.
The building's exterior incorporates regional cultural characteristics. The " dou " shape of the exterior is an artistic abstraction of the depth of Jiangnan streets and alleys, while the perforated form of the exterior aluminum panels echoes the texture of brickwork in residential buildings in the east of the city, allowing the building to blend naturally and harmoniously into its cultural environment.
The Jinling Art Museum covers an area of 6,000 square meters ( including 5 exhibition halls , equipped with multiple dedicated spaces such as lecture halls, bookstores, art shops, galleries, information rooms, and cafes). It can meet the needs of different exhibitions and activities, serve the surrounding public and local artists, and build an ideal platform for communication with the outside world, becoming an important cultural landmark in Nanjing and even Jiangsu Province.
