Introducing Dinglin Villa

Near Zixia Lake, there once stood Dinglin Temple, a popular Buddhist sanctuary in ancient times. Legend has it that the Song Dynasty politician and writer Wang Anshi studied here, naming his study Zhaowenzhai (Zhaowenzhai) and inscribing it with the calligrapher Mi Fu. However, the temple fell into disrepair and underwent several cycles of restoration and destruction. A new "Wang Anshi Memorial Hall," called Dinglin Villa, has been built on its site. Surrounded by flower walls and elegantly decorated with quaint architecture, the hall's furnishings are preserved in their original state, along with well-preserved cultural relics of all sizes. The portrait of Wang Anshi was also painted by the renowned Song Dynasty painter Li Gonglin.

Outside the pavilion, a long corridor features one hundred of his poems, all inscribed on the walls. These poems are all by renowned contemporary Chinese calligraphers, creating a vibrant and captivating display. The courtyard, with its towering ancient trees and gurgling streams, offers a charming and tranquil scene each season. Dinglin Villa is a complex of imitation ancient buildings, featuring a three-story palace-style garden surrounded by winding corridors. While modest in size, the villa boasts an intricate layout and exquisite elegance. Its designer is Xu Debing, a senior engineer at the cemetery. However, its shortcomings include the confined garden space, the enclosed walls, and the severe isolation from the natural scenery beyond.

Climate and best time to travel

The subtropical monsoon climate is characterized by towering ancient trees and gurgling water in the courtyard. It offers unique scenery in all seasons and is quiet and charming, making it a suitable place for travel in all seasons.
