Located in the north of Nanjing, the Muyan Riverside Scenic Area spans the Xiaguan and Qixia districts, facing the city along the river. It serves as a vital green barrier to the north of Nanjing's main city and a key component of the Dajiang Scenic Area, reflecting Nanjing's historical, cultural, and natural landscapes.
Muyan is rich in natural and cultural landscapes. The scenic area has beautiful mountains and vast waters, profound cultural heritage, and a collection of famous places. It has been known as " the ancient beautiful land of Jinling, and the northern suburbs are the best " . It has six of the ancient " Forty-eight Scenic Spots of Jinling " : Mufu Climbing, Bodhidharma Ancient Cave, Yanji Sunset, Yongji River Flow, Jiashan Sutra Reading and Hualong Beautiful Land . The names " Jinling " and " Baixia " are both derived from Mufu Mountain.
