She and her husband later taught at Jinling University (the predecessor of Nanjing University) and lived in this secluded cottage. It was during these wonderful ten years that Pearl Buck wrote her debut novel "Exile" and other wonderful works such as "The Good Earth", which won her the Nobel Prize.
