
Laojieling, located in the northeastern part of Xixia County, Nanyang City, at the intersection of Nanyang and Luoyang, is a mountain range running east-west, a transitional zone between north and south climates, and a watershed dividing the Yangtze and Yellow Rivers. Therefore, it has been known as " Old Jieling " since ancient times . The scenic area's main peak, Jiaojiaojian, stands at approximately 2,200 meters above sea level, making it the highest peak in the Funiu Mountains and the Central Plains.
The Laojieling Scenic Area boasts lush vegetation and towering ancient trees. Its pleasant climate, even in the summer, is refreshingly cool, making it a popular summer resort in the Central Plains. The Laojieling Scenic Area offers visitors three natural wonders: unique peaks, unique rocks, and unique trees. The " unique peaks " are not about height; they bear the footprints of Laozi.
Jiaojiaojian is the first peak in the Central Plains, and it can represent the Sawtooth Peak, Stone Man Peak, Lover Peak, Camel Peak, etc. in the World Geopark; " Strange Stones " include lifelike natural strange stones such as the Journey to the West, the Laozi Statue, and the Funiu Mountain God; " Strange Trees " include a large number of precious trees in the scenic area, such as yew, lianxiang tree, red birch, Qinggang oak, etc.
