It sits at the southwestern foot of the Niu Shou Mountain Scenic Area and the northernmost end of the Niu Shou-Yuntai Ecological Corridor. Known as "China's Most Beautiful Village" and the "First Niu Shou Cultural Village," Shi'ao Taoyuan was renovated by the Jiangning District Government in October 2011 to create a leisure tourism and agritourism destination. It is one of the "Five Golden Flowers" of Jiangning District's first batch of urban ecological leisure agricultural demonstration villages.
