Hansang City, one of the world's smallest and most unique cities, is located in the heart of Xinye County, Nanyang City, Henan Province. Within the city stands a mulberry tree with sturdy, frosty, and gnarled branches. Planted by Guan Yu during the Three Kingdoms period, it dates back over 1,800 years. Though the main trunk has withered, young mulberry trees have sprouted from its roots, thriving through generations. During the Ming Dynasty, local officials built a brick wall around the tree. The wall, 11 meters in circumference, 4 meters high, and 3.5 meters in diameter, covers an area of over ten square meters. Constructed of blue bricks and topped with earthen mounds, it resembles a city wall and was given the name "Hansang City."
A stele is erected on the sun-facing side of the city wall, recording the history of Han Sang City. Although Sang City is small, it is a famous scenic spot far and wide.
Xinye, a renowned historical and cultural city along my country's "Three Kingdoms Tourist Attractions Route," boasts two ancient Han Dynasty mulberry towns. These "towns" are actually two ancient structures, each no more than three meters long and wide. Within these buildings are two thousand-year-old Han Dynasty mulberry trees: one named "Guanzhi Mulberry" and the other "Guansu Mulberry."
The temperate monsoon climate makes it suitable for travel in all four seasons.
Hansang City is a compact and exquisitely built city, with its twisted and twisted branches jutting out from the city walls. From a distance, it resembles a bonsai, elegant and captivating. The ancient mulberry tree is decrepit, its trunk as strong as iron. Its massive branches, twisted and cracked, shed their bark, appear as solid as fossils, inspiring a sense of awe and a sense of emotion. It's a perfect place for a visit.
