Baihe National Urban Wetland Park, located in Nanyang, Henan Province's third-largest city, has become a tourist gem in the city. The park covers 24.5 square kilometers, including 16,000 mu of water, stretching 15.6 kilometers. Resembling a shimmering silver ribbon, the park's embankments, forests, roads, islands, bridges, and water all harmoniously complement each other, creating a magnificent landscape where the sky and water merge into one, connecting the upper and lower reaches. This unique natural ecosystem has become a stunning tourist attraction in Nanyang.
In June 2007, the Ministry of Construction approved the promotion of Nanyang Baihe Wetland Park to a National Urban Wetland Park, becoming the second national urban wetland park in Henan Province approved in the same year, and becoming a beautiful city card of Nanyang.
Small gardens with distinct characteristics, such as Danqing Garden, Songtao Garden, Tiaowan Garden, Golden Triangle, and Huaixiang Bay, flank the banks, brimming with vibrant greenery. Yubin Sensen Park and Jiefang Square embrace the Yu River, towering majestically. Rows of weeping willows sway in the breeze on the 10,000-meter terraces on either side. Tongxin Lake, Cuipingwu, and Guandi Spring, among other places, offer crystal-clear waters and fish swim. On Moon Island, pavilions, waterside terraces, and lush trees and flowers complement each other, creating a dazzling display of light.
The warm temperate monsoon climate makes the Baihe Scenic Area a place of scenic beauty. Some are lushly green, with butterflies flitting and bees dancing, and birds chirping. Others are lushly blossomed and willowed, with reflections on the clear water, and gulls and fish playing together. The scenery is elegant and tranquil, making it a great place to visit in all seasons.
Baihe National Urban Wetland Park boasts over 130 large yachts, speedboats, pedal boats, and rowboats, offering diverse water recreational opportunities. The water sports base, comprising six 2,500-meter-long, international Class A-standard racing lanes, a viewing platform, and a control tower, is one of 12 such standard bases nationwide and the first in my country to utilize a natural urban river. Along the banks of the Baihe River in the urban area, various functional areas are designated, including cultural and folk art performance areas, dining areas, commercial and trade service areas, comprehensive service areas, cruise areas, speedboat areas, swimming areas, and fishing areas. These areas offer a comprehensive range of services for sightseeing, leisure, and cooling off, perfect for boating and scenic viewing.
