
The Xihe Scenic Area is located in Shangcheng County, Xinyang City, Henan Province, 30 kilometers away from the exit of Shanghai-Shaanxi Expressway. It has a total area of 32 square kilometers. The highest peak in the area, "Pingdingpu", has an altitude of 1,584 meters and is known as the "No. 1 Peak in Southern Henan".

Just 20 kilometers southeast of the county seat, buses run every half hour to the scenic area, a place rich in cultural heritage, with lush green mountains and clear waters, and unusual pines and rocks coexisting in a picturesque setting.
Xihe Scenic Area is a national AAAA scenic area, a national nature reserve, a national geological park, one of the country's 130 red boutique tourist routes, the origin of Xinyang Maojian high mountain green tea, and the first rafting in the high mountain canyon in southern Henan. It is a leisure and tourism area that integrates waterfalls, red historical sites, high mountain tea gardens, science education, and vacation and recuperation.
Boasting a subtropical monsoon climate, Xihe Scenic Area is ablaze with blossoms in spring, bees and butterflies fluttering, gurgling water, and azaleas blanketing the mountains. In summer, the area is lush and green, with cascading springs and waterfalls, and offers a chance for rafting and playful play. In autumn, the area is awash with fruits, with mountains blanketed in crimson and forests dyed in vibrant colors. In winter, the area is blanketed in snow, covered in rime and icicles, and filled with vibrant colors. It's a perfect place to visit in all four seasons.
The scenic area consists of four sections: Huatuo Valley, Youyou Tea Valley, Xihe Skywalk Park, and Jingangtai Canyon Rafting. Rich in flora and fauna, the area features the "Shangcheng Fat Salamander" (giant salamander), leopards, pheasants, and wild boars, while seven-leaf lily, gastrodia elata, and ganoderma lucidum are scattered throughout the area. The area also boasts the Huatuo Temple, a historic site spanning over 400 years, the Yanmingguan Waterfall, alpine tea gardens, the Water Curtain Waterfall, a glass plank road, a waterfront plank road, and thousands of acres of azaleas.
