
Wanghua Lake, formerly known as Wanghuating Reservoir , is located at the foot of Dacheng Mountain, 9 kilometers southeast of Fangcheng County . It was named after the Wanghuating Pavilion that once stood there . It was the first medium-sized reservoir built in Nanyang after liberation.
The dam is 15.5 meters high, with a crest height of 5 meters, and is 1,310 meters long. It has a reservoir capacity of 120 million cubic meters and irrigates an area of 26,000 mu (approximately 16,000 acres). The reservoir is nestled against the Fenghuang Peak of Dacheng Mountain to the north and borders the Nanyang Basin plain to the south, creating a breathtaking landscape of lakes and mountains.
